Sussulto del Bosco is a one-of-a-kind freestanding sculpture handcrafted from poplar burl wood, shaped by nature long before being touched by human hands. Its irregular, elongated form seems to capture a sudden movement, a subtle tremor running through the forest and becoming frozen in wood. Natural grain patterns, knots, cavities and warm shades tell the story of the material, making every detail truly unrepeatable. Designed to be admired from different perspectives, it brings character to consoles, shelves, cabinets and desks. A sculptural presence that complements modern, rustic and contemporary interiors, perfect for those looking for an authentic piece of wooden art, handmade and deeply connected to nature.
The Story Behind the Product
Some pieces of wood seem to have already been sculpted by nature. Sussulto del Bosco was born from the encounter with an extraordinary piece of poplar burl, rich in knots, cavities, changing grain patterns and naturally irregular shapes.
Rather than radically transforming it, we chose to follow the form that nature had already created. Its elongated silhouette suggests an upward movement, almost like a sudden tremor passing through the forest.
This sensation inspired the name Sussulto del Bosco — which can be translated as “Tremor of the Forest” — an artwork in which the material retains its original strength and becomes sculpture.
Material
The sculpture is crafted from poplar burl wood, a particularly fascinating part of the tree, prized for its intricate grain patterns, natural irregularities and extraordinary visual depth.
Knots, cavities, variations in colour and natural imperfections are not concealed: they are precisely what gives the artwork its distinctive identity.
Every detail reflects the natural origin of the material, making Sussulto del Bosco a truly unique and unrepeatable piece.
Handcrafted Workmanship
The sculpture is handcrafted in our woodworking workshop, with careful attention to preserving the original character and natural shape of the burl.
Our work follows the contours of the wood through careful shaping, sanding and finishing, designed to enhance its grain, knots, textures and warm shades.
The aim is not to make the wood perfectly regular, but to allow its authentic and imperfect beauty to become the true protagonist of the artwork.
How to Display It
Sussulto del Bosco is a freestanding sculpture, designed to become a distinctive focal point within an interior.
It can be displayed on a console table, sideboard, deep shelf, desk or living-room cabinet. Its strong natural presence creates a beautiful contrast in contemporary and minimalist interiors, while also blending effortlessly into rustic spaces and rooms featuring natural materials.
For an even more striking effect, place it near soft side or overhead lighting to emphasise the three-dimensional form, grain patterns and natural relief of the burl.
Why Choose This Product
Choosing Sussulto del Bosco means owning something that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.
This is not a mass-produced decorative object, but a one-of-a-kind wooden artwork, born from the unique form of a natural burl and enhanced through skilled craftsmanship.
It is created for those who appreciate wood in its most authentic form, for those who want to decorate their home with objects that tell a story, and for anyone searching for an original and meaningful gift.

How to Care for It
To preserve the beauty of the sculpture over time, gently remove dust using a soft, dry cloth.
Avoid aggressive cleaning products, abrasive materials and prolonged contact with water or moisture. We also recommend keeping the sculpture away from intense heat sources and prolonged direct sunlight.
Wood is a living material and may undergo subtle changes over time. This natural evolution is part of its beauty and authenticity.
From Our Workshop to Your Home
Sussulto del Bosco is created in our woodworking workshop in Spello, Umbria, Italy, where for five generations we have worked with wood, combining traditional craftsmanship, respect for natural materials and a passion for forms that preserve the original identity of the timber.
Every piece is approached individually because a burl of this kind cannot be worked according to a standard process: the wood itself suggests the direction to follow.
From our workshop in the heart of Italy to your home, Sussulto del Bosco brings with it a one-of-a-kind artwork, handcrafted in Italy and destined to remain truly unique.
